Citizen Eco-Drive Radio Controlled Burnt Red This Citizen Eco-Drive Radio Controlled model is a high-performance “set-and-forget” timepiece. Featuring a rare burnt red/oxblood dial, it represents the peak of Citizen’s functional technology from the early-to-mid 2010s. Notice the RX (Receiving), H, M, and L markers. These indicate the signal strength when the watch is syncing with atomic clocks. Launched globally in 1995, Eco-Drive technology uses a silicon light cell hidden beneath the dial to convert any light source (natural or artificial) into energy. This energy is stored in a rechargeable lithium-ion cell, allowing the watch to run for months—or even years—in total darkness once fully charged. Citizen released the world’s first multi-band radio-controlled watch in 1993. These watches receive long-wave radio signals from atomic clocks (located in places like Japan, China, Germany, and the USA).
