Paperback. Printed on glossy paper and with colored photos, some scuffs on cover and edges, no marks or highlights, can also be used as a coffee table book. This book invites the reader to try the subtle and fascinating discipline of Japanese calligraphy. Discover the history and the ways to use the “four treasures of calligraphy” (brush, ink, ink stone and paper) as well as the seals and other tools. Learn to draw the characters, words and poems with thick and slender brushes in kana and a mix of kana and kanji. Try cursive writing, the soul of Japanese calligraphy. About the author (2017) Yuuko Suzuki began her study of calligraphy in Osaka at the age of six. For the past two decades she has taught Japanese art, calligraphy, painting, and Buddhist art. Her work is found in exhibits and private collections worldwide.
