Silver 999 marking/ stamp,. Magician mandala cosmological symbol note: heavy used antique, estimate 1880- 1920. Saturn hexagon. Talisman. Philosophies circulated in the west from eastern influences. The planet saturn has an ancient symbolic meaning as key to manifestation. The hexagon along with other base shapes and geo patterns also hold meaning as portal pathways to cosmologic consciousness-- this would be related to samsara, maya, akasha, ether, within/without, above/below, nirvana, secret societies/open societies, etc. Palladium was transposed as silver in early jewelry. Before the turn of the 20th century, jewelry practice deferred to gray-color metals as silver since silver had more value (used in coinery) in those times. So commercially, they'd rather brand items as 'silver' rather than, say palladium or platinum or rhodium which were, and are now, more valuable (except for lead and tin). Palladium is paramagnetic. In short, using the word silver was a generalized affair and a marketing strategy at that time. The piece is paramagnetic and responds well to hydrolytic test done--palladium.
