Size 52 geometry This is the important information if you’re specifically considering size 52: * Stack: 561 mm * Reach: 371 mm * Effective top tube: 530 mm * Seat tube: 475 mm * Head tube: 145 mm * Head angle: 71.3° * Seat angle: 74.2° * Chainstay: 420 mm * Wheelbase: 1,003 mm * Bottom-bracket drop: 80 mm * Standover: 735 mm * Trail: 59 mm Trek’s published sizing reference puts 52 cm around 163–168 cm (5’4”–5’6”), although inseam, torso length, flexibility and preferred riding position can make a different size appropriate. What makes the SL 5 Gen 4 good? 1. Very comfortable endurance geometry The Domane is designed for long rides rather than an aggressive race position. The relatively tall 561 mm stack and 371 mm reach on the 52 make it considerably more relaxed than a dedicated race bike. 2. Carbon + IsoSpeed The 500 Series OCLV frame is lightweight and stiff where it needs to be, while the rear IsoSpeed system helps reduce vibration and fatigue on rough roads. 3. Shimano 105 12-speed The 50/34 compact crank combined with an 11–34 cassette gives a very useful climbing gear. Your easiest gear is 34×34, which is particularly useful on steep climbs and long mountainous rides. 4. Excellent tire clearance Although supplied with 32c tires, the frame can accommodate up to 38 mm tires without fenders, making the bike suitable for poor pavement, light gravel and long-distance adventure riding. 5. Internal storage The frame includes Trek’s internal storage compartment, allowing tools, tube/repair equipment and other small essentials to be carried inside the frame. Size 52 — who is it best for? As a starting point, 52 is intended for roughly 163–168 cm riders. 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 6 inches.
