This piece is a vintage mid-century skeleton leaf painting featuring a floral bouquet, signed by an artisan named "Cruz." Estimated Value • Market Value: $20 to $50 USD (approx. ₱1,100 to ₱2,900 PHP). • Value Classification: This artwork falls under vintage decorative folk art or novelty souvenir art rather than fine gallery art. While signed "Cruz," the piece is characteristic of tourist/export production art popular from the 1960s through the 1980s, meaning the signature belongs to a commercial or regional studio artisan rather than a highly collected, listed master artist. About the Artwork & Technique • The Substrate: The painting is executed directly on treated, dried skeleton leaves (most commonly peepal, banyan, or rubber plant leaves). The soft tissue of the leaf is carefully removed using a gentle chemical or soaking process, leaving behind only the translucent, lace-like vein network. • The Design: Once dried and laid flat, the delicate surface is hand-painted with oils or acrylics—in this case, a vibrant basket of autumn-toned wildflowers. • Framing: The octagonal wooden frame lined with a woven burlap or canvas matting is highly iconic of 1970s and 1980s home decor styling.
