US Army 1970s 101st Airborne Jungle Jacket This is an authentic US Army 4th pattern tropical combat coat, commonly known as a jungle jacket, manufactured during the late Vietnam War era. First introduced in the mid-1960s to withstand tropical heat and moisture, the 4th pattern transitioned to lightweight cotton ripstop poplin with concealed pocket buttons to prevent snagging in dense vegetation. This specific garment retains its period-correct yellow-on-black U.S. Army chest tape and the renowned 101st Airborne Division ‘Screaming Eagles’ shoulder sleeve insignia with airborne tab. While 4th pattern jungle jackets were mass-produced in significant quantities toward the end of the conflict, surviving examples with original unit patches intact have become increasingly sought after by militaria collectors. Presented in X-Small Regular, the jacket displays honest garrison and field fading across the ripstop fabric without severe fraying or material failure.
